Funding Source: Funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and administered by 19 regional regranting agencies across the state. The Arts Council of Greater Lansing administers the program for Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawassee counties.
Stresses: Locally developed, high quality arts projects that are special opportunities to address local arts needs and increase public access to the arts. Minigrants support a broad range of projects which preserve, produce or present the traditional or contemporary arts that employ Michigan artists.
Eligibility: Non-profit organizations in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawassee counties planning an arts or cultural event. Applicants must have non-profit status as evidenced through an Internal Revenue Service letter of determination, i.e., 501(c) (3), or State of Michigan Certificate of Incorporation. Non-profit status of applicants will be verified and any applicant without legal non-profit status in good standing will be deemed ineligible for funding.
Grant Amount: Applicants may request up to $4,000 on a matching basis. Cash and in-kind matches are acceptable. Requests for minigrant funds may not exceed one-half of the cost of the project.
Application Availability/Deadline/Term: Applications are due November 1 for projects held February 1 through September 30 the following year. Finding for 2011 is now complete.
As of FY 2010 no organization can receive a MCACA Grant and a MCACA Minigrant. Organizations may however apply for both a MCACA Grant (application is made directly to MCACA) and an MCACA Minigrant (application is made directly to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing for Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawassee counties).
