Arts Council Call for Teaching Artists

Arts Council Call for Teaching Artists
Apply Today for Artists-in-Residence Program

Call for Artists
The Arts Council is seeking teaching artists interested in participating in the Young Creatives: Artists-in-Residence Program. The application process will work to identify teaching artists committed to inspiring creativity through quality arts experiences in dance, music, visual art and theatre.

Chosen artists will be placed on a web-based Artist Roster, which classroom teachers can use to find a teaching artist that meets their classroom and student needs. Currently the program serves Lansing School District classrooms.

Teaching Artists must be professional artists with expertise in one or more arts disciplines who have previously worked with children and teachers in educational settings.

Please note: Teaching artists chosen to be placed on the Artists-in-Residence roster are not guaranteed a paid placement with Lansing School District. Teaching-artist positions will be filled based on teacher need and selection.
Application Process:
  1. Applicants must download, print and fill out the attached application.

  2. Applications can be scanned and e-mailed, mailed or hand delivered to the Arts Council. Contact information is listed on the application.

  3. Applications must be received at the Arts Council office no later than 5 p.m. on Aug. 16, 2017.

  4. Once applications have been received and reviewed, potential candidates will be contacted, and interviews will be scheduled. Please note that spaces are limited.
Interviews will be held in late August, 2017, and selected artists will be notified soon afterwards. A mandatory orientation for Young Creatives: Artists-In-Residence teaching artists will be held before Labor Day. Artist placements in schools will begin in September, 2017 and end in May, 2018.

Thank you for your interest in the Young Creatives: Artists-in-Residence program.  If you have any questions, please contact: Mila Theroux, project coordinator, at or 517-420-3024 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
