Young Creatives Program

The Arts Council staff and board have created an expansive art program for youth in the tri-county area, officially launching the Young Creatives Program in April 2014. The program offers five key components to support arts and arts education for our young creatives.

Young Creatives Grants

Grants of up to $1,500 are available to area arts and cultural organizations to assist underserved youth in attending arts-related programs, camps and classes throughout the year.

Young Creatives Billboards

Each March, during National Youth Arts Month, the Arts Council supports young creatives and arts education with our Young Creatives Billboards campaign. The project features the artwork of up to 10 tri-county area students, ages K-12, on digital billboards across greater Lansing.

Young Creatives Guide

The 2016 Young Creatives Guide provides Lansing’s young creatives, their parents and their teachers with an extensive listing of classes, camps, lectures, workshops and more for anything from writing to dancing to theatre and beyond!
Young Creatives Artists-in-Residence

This new program creates opportunities for students and teachers in the greater Lansing area school districts to work side by side with teaching artists in a selected art form such as music, dance, theatre, and/or the visual arts, where they will experience the rigors of a specific discipline and its full artistic process.

Young Creatives Advocacy

The Arts Council of Greater Lansing has partnered with My18 WHTV
to produce a series of public service television announcements surrounding the arts. Check out our collaborative PSAs, featuring many Arts Council members now!

Our valuable work over the course of the last year to recognize and support emerging talent in elementary through high school has also been recognized by Michigan State University Federal Credit Union. We want to thank them for their generous financial support that will help fund printing, marketing, expanded scholarships and other associated program costs.

All of our hard work is paying off as we continue to mold and shape and brainstorm…we are committed to growing the Young Creatives Program and providing more creative opportunities and outlets for area youth. We hope that you will take advantage of all the creative, innovative and affordable art programs that are offered in our community.

Our young creatives philosohpy mirrors that of Maya Angelo who wrote, “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
