Build A Birdhouse - Win Money!

Build a Birdhouse by the End of March; Win Prize Money at White River Gallery’s “April Is for the Birds!” Show

Build a birdhouse for a new White River Gallery exhibit and competition, and you could win some money! The Gallery is offering prizes totaling $175 to “April is for the Birds” contestants, and in the process, hopes to raise money to support the co-operative art gallery.

The contest is open to artists, birders and hobbyists of all ages. Entries may be functional and/or decorative, and may be constructed of any material. The birdhouses can be up to 10” wide by 30” high and weigh up to five pounds. They must be three-dimensional.

“We picture colorful, artistic birdhouses hanging throughout the Gallery,” say Linda Elshof and Andrew Jagniecki, Gallery members and overseers of the project.

Entry forms are now in Montague at the Nuveen Community Center for the Arts, 8697 Ferry Street, and at Arts Council of White Lake office, 8695 Ferry Street, and will be available in the Gallery beginning March 1. Entry forms are also available online at www.artscouncilofwhitelake.org/gallery.html.  Entry fee is $10/birdhouse. Submissions must be received at the Gallery 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., March 28 through March 31.

Artists may elect to sell their birdhouses through the Gallery, label them “not for sale,” or donate them for a silent auction that runs throughout the April 4-28 exhibit. Donated birdhouses are tax deductible.

The announcement of juried winners, silent auction winners and the people’s choice winner is at a free public reception 2 p.m. April 29 at the Gallery.
