More Than $82 Million Awarded for Arts Projects NationwideIncludes $20,000 awarded to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing
Lansing, Michigan, June 14, 2017—National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $20,000 to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing to support its annual Creative Placemaking Summit, which is in its third year. The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.
“The arts reflect the vision, energy and talent of America’s artists and arts organizations,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support organizations such as the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, in serving their communities by providing excellent and accessible arts experiences.”

The 3rd Annual Creative Placemaking Summit will take place on Thursday, October 11, 2017, at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Michigan. The full-day event will engage 400 or more individuals who represent a cross-sector of our community and will provide a place to exchange ideas, seek advice and make connections around placemaking. Speakers will present cutting-edge work from statewide and national placemaking researchers and practitioners to provide tangible methods for the advancement of placemaking in the Capital Region. The Summit’s goal is to create a collective vision of specific initiatives to make Greater Lansing more vibrant, creative and dynamic for residents, visitors and those who work and play here.
