Mayor Andy Schor Announces Arts Project Grantees
$87,500 in Arts Funding to be Awarded to Local Organizations
(LANSING) Feb. 9, 2022—Mayor Andy Schor announced today that City of Lansing Arts and Culture Arts Project Grants totaling $87,500 were awarded to seven Greater Lansing arts and cultural organizations. These grants are funded annually through the City of Lansing and administered by the Arts Council of Greater Lansing.
“These Arts Projects awards are so important to our community and our arts and culture organizations, and we are proud to be able to grant these funds again this year. These dollars allow arts and culture organizations to not only highlight their good work in the community but also create dynamic experiences for our residents and our visitors,” said Mayor Andy Schor. “Festivals, concerts, murals and other creative arts projects help shape our region’s identity and make us recognizable as a creative community. They nurture our growing reputation as an arts destination that people want to visit, which benefits all of our area businesses and boosts our economy.”
The City of Lansing Arts and Culture Grants are designed to support arts organizations and create community-driven artistic projects that capitalize on Lansing’s assets, inspiration and potential, contributing to a “sense of place” for residents, businesses and visitors. The Arts Project Grants specifically look for community-driven arts projects and programs that increase access to arts and culture for residents, businesses and visitors to the City of Lansing.
The Fiscal Year 2022 Arts Project grantees include:
The Army of Survivors; Lansing 5:01; Capital City Film Festival; The Davies Project for Mid-MI Children; Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center; Lansing Symphony Orchestra; and Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art.
