Arts Roll Call Episode 2: Chad Swan-Badgero--Advocacy and Valuing the Arts

Welcome to Episode 2 of Arts Roll Call, our bi-monthly arts podcast, featuring area artists and arts organizations. This month we talked to Chad Swan-Badgero, founder and artistic director of Peppermint Creek Theatre Company and arts education program manager for the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs.

Meet Chad

Chad openly admits he has an “utter geeky passion for the theatre,” and that led him to becoming the founder and artistic director of his non-profit Lansing theatre company. He is also a proud Spartan who received his masters in English and theatre from Michigan State University and is the  arts education program manager for the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs.

Chad is a Big Brother through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program, the co-artistic director for the Renegade Theatre Festival, was named one of the "Ten Over The Next Ten" from the Lansing Chamber of Commerce in 2009 and was awarded the Arts Council of Greater Lansing's Individual Artist Applause Award in 2016. In his spare time he is slightly obsessed with DIY home renovation projects and cooking. Chad’s biggest joy is his 15-month-old son, Sawyer.

Optimism and Opportunity

This month’s episode explores what is happening in the theatre community, the importance of the arts in everyone’s lives as well as Chad’s history with the Arts Council and more. He and host Robin Miner-Swartz also share some laughs, dreams and stories and cover both tough and thought-provoking topics regarding theatre, advocacy and the arts. Give a listen!
