The Young Creatives Guide provides Lansing’s young creatives, their parents and their teachers with a listing of classes, camps, lectures, workshops and more for anything from writing to dancing to theatre and beyond! Currently the guide is virtual, but you can expect a print version in Fall 2022, just in time for the next school year.

Greenrock Writers Retreat is a residential four-day camp for high school students with a passion for writing. Workshops are designed to encourage participants to view writing as both personally meaningful and pleasurable, as well as to improve student writing ability.
Students who are incoming ninth graders through outgoing twelfth graders in high school are invited to apply, regardless of writing proficiency. These participants will work with other young, aspiring writers as well as certified Red Cedar Writing Project (RCWP) Teacher-Consultants (TCs). RCWP TCs are experienced classroom teachers who have been identified as outstanding writing teachers by their colleagues and university faculty members.
As a Greenrock participant, you will work with a variety of teenagers from a multitude of high schools across Michigan. You will explore and improve your talents as a writer, both creatively and academically. Additionally, you will work with experienced college writers in order to enhance your own writing skills and participate in readings and discussion centered on the camp’s annual theme: Hidden Messages for 2022.
The opportunity to be listed in the guide is exclusive to Arts Council members. If you are not a member, sign up today! We are planning for the guide to be completely uploaded by mid-March 2022.
